Janine is a Data Scientist at Pacmed, where she helps building and implementing decision support tools in healthcare. Having a background in Psychology and a devote interest in machine learning applications, she is interested in understanding the human reflection in the data and how these biases can be mitigated to leverage the potential of the data to enable better decision making in healthcare.
Intrigued by the intrinsic nature of biases in the way humans think, perceive, feel; Janine is also actively working towards finding ways to mitigate gender biases within the science and tech community. She believes that proportionate gender representation within science and tech can only be achieved by weakening the association between men and competence. As such, she encourages, inspires and promotes gender minorities to achieve their programming potential, supports, and builds their confidence on stage with the local R-Ladies chapter in Amsterdam.
