Frenny Bawa’s 20 year career in technology focused on taking Canadian products and services to world markets.
As Vice President, Global Business Development for BlackBerry, she led the globalization initiative, expanding the company’s primarily North American footprint to over 175 countries. Subsequently, in her role of Managing Director, RIM India, Frenny grew sales 300% achieving a 15% share of the Indian Smartphone market. She was cited by Fortune India as one of India’s 10 most powerful women.
Frenny is a passionate advocate for empowering women in technology and speaks regularly at technology conferences and events. She particularly enjoys advising young women on career development strategies as well as working with emerging women leaders seeking to build high-performance teams to drive exceptional results. She recently developed a mentorship pilot for Vancouver Women in Technology (VanWIT).
Frenny is a member of the National Research Council’s Advisory Committee on TRIUMF where she provides strategic advice on TRIUMF’s commercial initiatives.
Frenny holds a BBA from Simon Fraser University and an MBA from McGill University.
